Former Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Deputy Executive Director Arnell Ignacio called out Jennylyn Mercado and other celebrities for being vocal against the government.
In a Facebook video by DDS Watch, the former government official said that celebrities should study further certain political topics before they speak out—otherwise they should just focus on their careers.
He added that their extreme views might affect their careers, a reason they should just steer clear of political topics if they know nothing about it.
Recently, Mercado expressed her sympathies to those whose livelihood were affected by the denial of ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal bid. She also gave her opinions regarding the 5th State of the Nation Address of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Other celebrities who have expressed their opinions regarding political issues include Angel Locsin, Anne Curtis, Nadine Lustre, Angelica Panganiban, and Sharon Cuneta, among others.
