K-drama Star Park Seo Joon says ‘Itaewon Class’ changed him as a person

South Korean actor Park Seo Joon said that his role in the hit Korean drama “Itaewon Class” changed him as a person and the way he looks at society.
In the South Korean edition of Esquire magazine, the actor said that his role as “Park Sae Royi” helped him evolve as a person, and helped look back at to where he started in his acting career.
“Itaewon Class,” a webtoon adapted into a K-drama, has been consistently garnering new audiences since it was picked up by Netflix—where it currently ranks in the streaming platform’s Top 10 shows.
“I wanted to take on a different kind of genre. Although [‘Itaewon Class’] was a drama that had elements of multiple genres, I thought what was most important was Park Sae Roy’s growth as a person,” he said in an interview with the magazine.
Seo Joon added that the role helped him reflect on the issues of society, as well as look back to where he started.
“I wasn’t originally someone who had much interest in societal issues, but Sae Royi was different. While filming this drama, I found myself thinking more about societal issues,” he said.
