Showbiz columnist Ricky Lo has fired back on Nadine Lustre’s remarks following her confirmation that she and James Reid have parted ways.
Lo said that the breakup confirmation is a vindication of his previous story about the couple’s breakup a few weeks ago.
“I should thank James Reid and Nadine Lustre for confirming in a joint statement that they have broken up, exactly two weeks after I broke the story in my STAR column,. — that is, after Nadine denied it with impunity,” Lo said in a text message to reporters.
The columnist explained why he decided to keep quiet despite the response of Lustre on his column.
“I kept my cool and just said, “Just wait and see” even when Nadine (while James remained silent) lambasted me for being a liar (purveyor of fake news) and thus emboldening her fans to relentlessly doing the same on social media. As the STAR blurb says, “The truth shall prevail,” Lo added.
“In my many decades as a journalist, I always stand for the truth and write “delicate” stories (like the James-Nadine breakup) only when given to me by reliable sources and after double-checking. In any case, whether showbiz or elsewhere, honestly is the best policy. O, Nadine, ano na? 2020 na!” Lo said referring to Nadine’s remarks when she refuted the Lo’s article.
