Asia’s songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid gave a hair-raising performance of the “We Win As One” theme song on ABS-CBN’s Sunday program “ASAP Natin ‘To”.
Her rendition earned praises from netizens.
One netizen named ‘Thierry’ said the singer has a ‘rare gift of making a song fly high.
“Like the true songbird that she is, of course. Her belts are so satisfactory – they’re like loud exclamations that our souls sometimes want to express and reach, but cannot. She does it for us instead,” the Youtube user wrote in the comment section.
Another suggested that Regine should sing it live in the closing ceremony of the Southeast (SEA) Games.
Glenn Goque said Regine takes the song “to a higher level”.
During the production, Regine was joined by some of the athletes with some of them wearing their medals.
The audience were waiving flaglets of the Philippines as soon as they came out during the chorus of the song.
Regine was also joined in the singing by fellow Kapamilya singers Gary Valenciano, Darren Espanto, among others.
The audience went on standing ovation when she belted out at the last portion of the song.
