Philippines’ bet Gazini Ganados stressed in her speech in the Top 20 of Miss Universe that no one should be left behind. She highlighted that there must be a concerted effort to care for the elderly.
“The world is aging. My grandparents raised me and I worked in an organization that was supports elderly care. I realized that there’s stigma between ageism, poverty, exclusivity and invisibility. It is rightful for us to remember that they were the ones who paved the way for us, and we should reciprocate that love and no one should be left behind,” Ganados said.
Ganados is hoping to succeed Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray and will be the fifth Filipina to do so. Philippines was part of the wild card category. Here are the other candidates who were able to enter the Top 20: South Africa, Indonesia, Nigeria, Vietnam, Thailand, Albania, France Iceland, Croatia, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Peru, Dominican Republic, Mexico, United States, Philippines, Venezuela, India, Brazil, Colombia.
