Beauty queen seeks asylum in PH, says she will be killed if deported

A beauty queen remains at the premises of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) saying that she could be killed if she will be deported back to her home country.

Bahareh Zare Bahari is seeking asylum to the Philippines. She was a contestant in the recent Miss Intercontinental pageant held in Manila.

Bahari said that her government wants to silence her after she expressed dissent against the administration.

In a statement released by the Immigration Bureau last week, the international police agency or Interpol has issued a worldwide request to arrest Bahari.

The beauty queen also has a red notice for some undisclosed reasons. The statement does not also specify which country has requested her arrest.

“I have been living here since 2014 and I’ve not gone back to my country. I explained to them many times, how can I have a criminal case there when I’ve been living here?” Bahati told CNN.

The beauty queen is currently at the passenger room at NAIA Terminal 3. She has not been allowed to go to the country after arriving from Dubai more than a week ago.

Bahari said that she is now suffering from mental health conditions because of her current situation.

She thinks that she may be targeted because of her social activism in her home country.

“I want to try to be the voice of my people,” she said in a statement.

She also denied that there was a stand off between her and airport officials at the NAIA when her friend came along to help her with the situation.
