Miss Earth 2017 Karen Ibasco will be representing the Philippines to the first Youth Climate Summit of the United Nations (UN).

Ibasco confirmed her participation in the UN Summit through social media.

“I’m proud to announce that I am now on board with the Climate Change Commission. My journey continues in being a voice for Mother Nature.” Ibasco said.

She will be joining 500 youth leaders gathering for the event in New York City on September 21, 2019.

The upcoming event will feature a “full-day of programming that brings together young activists, innovators, entrepreneurs, and change-makers who are committed to combating climate change at the pace and scale needed to meet the challenge. It will be action-oriented, intergenerational, and inclusive, with equal representation of young leaders from all walks of life.” as per a report from Good News Pilipinas.
