Army reservist Matteo Guidicelli pays tribute to Filipino heroes

On the commemoration of the National Heroes Day, Kapamilya actor Matteo Guidicelli, who was recently promoted by President Rodrigo Duterte to 2nd Lieutenant of the Philippine Army Reserve, took time out to pay tribute to all the Filipino heroes.

“Today (more than any other day) we salute all the brave men and women who have jeopardized their tomorrow in exchange of our peaceful today. To the soldiers whose motivation is love of country, THANK YOU! May all sacrifices and risks made be rewarded a hundred times over,” Matteo said in a Twitter post on Sunday.

The Filipino-Italian actor, who was born in Cebu City, joined the Philippine Army as reservist last April.

He completed his month-long training last June. He emerged as the most outstanding among the 76 students in the class when he obtained the highest grade of 95.20 percent.

During the donning of ranks, Matteo thanked the Philippine Army for allowing to share the extraordinary stories of the soldiers to the world.

“The Army, in the beginning, is a very closed-door organization not wanting to let the outside to know much about them. But I’m very honored and thankful that they allowed me in to at least spread the message on how much these men and women sacrifice for the country and I will continue to do so,” Matteo said in his speech.
