From rescue dog to film star?
Monte, a two-year-old terrier mix, is set for his film debut via Disney’s live-action remake of “Lady and the Tramp.”
KTVK, an affiliate of CNN, reported that Monte will play the titular Tramp in the film, which is set to premiere on the Disney+ streaming service when it launches in the US on November 12.
Monte was sent from a municipal shelter in New Mexico to Phoenix’s HALO Animal Rescue in April 2018.
His good behavior and sloppy wet kisses endeared him to the staff of the animal center, shelter CEO Heather Allen told KTVK.
Hollywood animal trainers scouted Monte and one of them adopted the lovable canine.
According to Disney, “Tramp” is voiced by noted dog lover Justin Theroux, while a cocker spaniel named Rose will play Lady, Tramp’s spaghetti-sharing love interest, with voiceover from Tessa Thompson.
