British singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran has confirmed his marriage with Cherry Seaborn.
Seaborn was Sheeran’s childhood friend he revealed. The singer confirmed the news in an interview with iHeartRadio’s Charlamagne Tha God about his new album.
Sheeran said the wedding took place while they were writing the lyrics for the song with Eminem and 50 Cent’s “Remember My Name.”
“Watch how the lyrics in the songs might get twisted / My wife wears red, but looks better without the lipstick,” Sheeran wrote in the lyrics referring to Seaborn as his wife.
“It was actually before me and Cherry got married, and I knew that we’d be married by the point that the song came out, someone’s gonna hear that and be like, ‘Oh, they’re married!’ I didn’t know how that would be construed, but obviously it’s already come out,” Sheeran explained.
The singer and Seaborn announced their engagement this January.
