Binibining Pilipinas beauties rally behind Catrina Gray amid ‘body shaming’ issue

Bininibing Pilipinas 2019 titleholders defended their fellow beauty queen and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray from ‘body shaming’ remarks made by a Thai beauty queen.

In a now deleted post Miss Grand Nakhon Phanom 2019 Coco Arayha Suparurk posted on her Instagram photos of Gray and Miss Grand International 2018 Clara Sosa.

The Thai beauty pageant contestant described Gray as “fat” while Sosa is “fit.”

The remarks did not sit well from Philippines’ pageant fans and some of Gray’s fellow Binibining Pilipinas sisters.

“There were always be people who will try to judge you from the outside but what they say won’t matter. Cat knows who she is so I’m pretty much confident she was not hurt about it,” Binibining Pilipinas Universe 2019 Gazini Ganados said in an interview.

Binibining Pilipinas Supranational 2019 Resgam Saeed said that she only had a brief encounter with Gray but she already felt that the reigning Miss Universe is confident about herself.

“Someone bashing her — that’s the last thing on her mind and frankly I think that Miss Universe doesn’t deserve that type of criticism and I dont think that at this day and age we’re going to judge and shame women for what they looked like,” Saeed said.

Meanwhile lawyer and Binibining Pilipinas International 2019 Bea Patricia Magtanong said that the issue about Gray’s figure said is nothing new but she was able to proved them all wrong.

“She has been facing this type of criticism ever since Binibining pilipinas and yet she rose above it and she proved to anybody that it’s not about how she weighs or how she looks and she won Miss Universe,” Magtanong said.

Gray has yet to respond on the Thai beauty queen’s remarks.
