Korean actress Song Hye Kyo did not know Song Joong Ki was planning to file for divorce.
She learned about it at the same time as the rest of the world as per a report from GMA News.
It was on June 27 that an announcement on the divorce was made or a day after the papers were filed.
Hye Kyo’s agency stated that the reason behind the divorce was irreconcilable differences between the two actors.
Hye Kyo and Joong Ki, popularly known as the #SongSongCouple, got married in October 31, 2017.
In an interview with Korean newspaper Hankook Ilbo, the law firm representing Song Joong Ki said, “Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo are in complete agreement about the decision to get a divorce.”
Asked why the couple had not then opted for a collaborative divorce if they were in agreement, the lawyer Park Jae Hyun replied, “The reason that they are not proceeding with an uncontested divorce is because there was a slight difference of opinion about the details of their divorce, so there was a need to reconcile [those differences of opinion].”
