Shopee apologizes for BlackPink Manila event snarl

Manila, Philippines- Furious fans of the Korean female group ‘BlackPink’ are taking their frustrations to social media due to what they call a scam’ by online shopping site Shopee.

The company has announced that they will be giving the Top 40 spenders in the shopping site an opportunity to meet the group at SM Aura in Taguig, Thursday.

The promo was conducted online but some netizens complained that even though they won the contest, Shopee took back their tickets away.

“We hear your feedback loud and clear, and we understand that the event fell short of the high standards that Shopee users and BLACKPINK fans expect,” Shopee in a statement.

#Shopeescam became the top trending topic last Thursday night, accusing the company of fooling their customers in order to purchase a number of items from their site.

Some netizens alleged the company of prioritizing ‘influencers’ and ‘celebrities’ who may not be big ‘BLACKPINK’ fans.

Some netizens gathered all the reports from those who were ‘scammed’ by the event.

Others complained that the company changed the mechanics days before the event to accommodate other attendees.

“We know that the entire process caused confusion, disappointment, and upset for many,” the company said.
