‘Lolo’ in Mcdonald’s heartwarming TV ad dies at 96

The actor who played the character of a forgetful grandfather in Mcdonald’s TV commercial has passed away. Rudy Francisco was 96.

The 2007 commercial featured actress Karen Delos Reyes and Francisco dining in the fastfood chain.

The commercial had a plot twist that despite her grandfather calling Karen as Gina, he cuts his burger in half and save it for her favorite granddaughter named Karen.

Francisco was a former Sampaguita actor in the 1950s. He turned his back in show business to pursue a career in the legal profession.

“Law is my first love. Acting came by accident. They called me and wanted to make me Gloria Romero’s leading man. Pero naging katambal niya si Luis Gonzales at isa pang foreigner.” Francisco recalled in one of his interviews.

Delos Reyes took to Instagram her reaction on the passing of Francisco. She says “sad day today, rest in peace Lolo Rudy Francisco”.
