Film production company Star Cinema announced on the evening of May 1 that they will be holding public auditions to look for the next lady who will portray Darna.
Star Cinema, together with Star Magic and Star Hunt, will hold open auditions on May 4 and 5 at 10:00 AM at the ABS-CBN audience entrance in Quezon City.
Anyone can audition for the said role given that they meet the qualifications which are as follows:
– Female
– 20 to 26 years old
– At least 5’5″ in height
– With acting experience
– Fluent in Tagalog
– Physically fit
Several actresses such as Miss Universe winners Pia Wurtzbach and Catriona Gray, as well as actresses Julia Barretto and Nadine Lustre have expressed their interest in auditioning for the said role.
The open auditions follow Liza Soberano’s withdrawal from the said movie project due to a severe finger injury.
Prior to Soberano, Angel Locsin was originally chosen to portray Darna but she also eventually backed out after she had problems in her spine.
