Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach is considering to audition to bag the role of the iconic Filipina superheroine Darna on the big screen.
In an interview with MJ Felipe for ABS-CBN News, Wurtzbach said that she is “very flattered” to be eyed as one of the actresses who can play Darna.
She also promised to fully commit to the project in case she will be chosen to play Darna.
“Kung papalarin na ibibigay sa akin ‘yung role na Darna, tatanggapin ko. I will work hard, I will train, I will attend workshops. Ibibigay ko lahat ng lakas ko. But, of course, it’s ABS-CBN’s decision, in the end, to see who is the perfect fit to play the role,” she said.
Wurtzbach said that she is also willing to undergo the entire audition process to get the role.
“Yeah, of course! If I find out that they’re open to having me audition, then I’m going to try. Why not? It’s everybody’s dream. It’s a dream role for me to play a superhero. If it happens, it happens. If not, then that’s also fine,” she said.
Moreover, Wurtzbach was also asked about Soberano’s withdrawal from the film and said that she is saddened by it because she knows how Soberano prepared for the highly-anticipated movie.
“Nalungkot ako talaga, kasi kaibigan ko na rin si Liza,” Wurtzbach said.
“I remember talking to her about the movie ‘Darna,’ while we were doing ‘ASAP’ in Australia, her preparation and how she was really excited about it,” she added.
She said that she has also reached out to Soberano after she found out about the news.
“‘Yung feeling na… Alam mo ‘yung, sa ‘yo na, e, and then may mga things na hindi natin ma-control. I feel bad for her. I also messaged her. I can just imagine what it feels like. I feel really bad for what happened,” she said.
As of now, Star Cinema is looking for another actress who can portray Darna.
