Distraught over her dad’s illness, Britney Spears has been admitted to a mental health facility.
TMZ said it has sources close to Britney who said the singer “checked herself into the facility about a week ago where she will live for 30 days.”
In her Instagram account, the 37-year old American pop icon simply stated: “We all need time to take time for a little ‘me time.’ :-)”
Then she posted a quote saying “Fall in Love With Taking Care Of Yourself Mind, Body and Spirit.”
According to TMZ, the health condition of Britney’s father, Jamie Spears, “is quite serious and not getting better.”
Mr. Spears underwent two surgeries to correct “major issues” with his intestines and colon which ruptured late last year. Apparently, it was in the second surgery where he’s been suffering complications.
“As you know, Britney put her Vegas residency on hold to care for her dad, we’re told she’s been having a really hard time,” TMZ reported.
TMZ was referring to Britney: Domination, her second concert series in Las Vegas, which Spears postponed last November following her dad’s illness. Spears’ first concert residency, Britney: Piece of Me, became one of the highest grossing residences of all-time.
“A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make a difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time,” she said.
