Derek Ramsay has officially transferred to the Kapuso network.
The 42-year-old actor is now a talent of GMA-7 after he signed an exclusive contract with the network on April 3.
Ramsay admitted in an interview with GMANetwork.com that he first asked his friends and colleagues about the working environment in GMA before he signed the contract.
“Lahat parehong sinasabi, sobrang mababait ang mga tao dun. And sobrang madaling katrabaho and that’s the regular thing I hear from everybody that I’ve ask,” he said.
Ramsay, who came from TV5, also said that he consulted his family about transferring to another network.
“Kasi in showbiz, napansin mo every decision you make, it extends to your family. Like, if I do a teleserye, it extends to your family in a sense na you won’t have time for them. So for me, I always consult and see how they feel about it and they are very, very supportive,” he said.
His parents were the ones who gave him encouragement to switch to the Kapuso network.
“After the meetings, after nakausap ko na yung mga bosses, my dad and my mom was like, ‘You know, Derek should do this,'” he said.
He added that he wanted to pursue a career in golf but he is happy with where his showbiz career is heading.
“Kasi ako, parang I think it’s time for me to hang up everything and then go for my dream of becoming a pro golfer. I think that’s what I want to do, maybe a movie here and there,” he said.
“Pero I really want to try to becoming a pro golfer. But after sitting down with family I was so shocked kasi I thought they would be so happy because they could get to see more of me.
“So they were very, very pushy na gawin ko ‘to and now that I’ve made the decision, they are very, very happy,” he added.
