Another Filipina beauty queen has proven once again that the Philippines is a force to be reckoned with in the world of pageantry.
The Philippines’ representative to the Miss Eco International 2019 pageant, Maureen Montagne, was unable to secure a back-to-back win for the country, but she still made her countrymen proud nonetheless after bagging first runner-up.
Montagne was so close to winning the crown and title but it was Peru’s Suheyn Cipriani who was hailed as the winner during the pageant’s coronation held in Egypt on Saturday.
Other winners include Miss USA who was named 2nd runner-up, followed by Miss Ukraine and Miss Malaysia.
Last year’s winner Cynthia Thomalla from Southern Leyte passed on the crown to her successor at the end of the event.
Montage is no stranger to beauty pageants. She first competed in Miss World USA in 2017, representing the state of Arizona, wherein she was alro first runner-up.
She then competed in Miss World Philippines 2018 wherein she was crowned Miss Eco International Philippines.
Prior to the competition, she posted a photo on her Instagram account wherein she expressed her gratitude for the “incredible journey” of being part of Miss Eco International.
“No matter what happens I will leave Egypt full of love, light, and new found purpose,” she said on Instagram.
Established in 2015, Miss Eco International is a relatively new international beauty pageant that promotes sustainable tourism and environmental protection.
Over 60 countries participated in this year’s edition.
