Kapamilya actress opened up about her past relationship with actor John Lloyd Cruz during her guesting on Boy Abunda’s late night talk show “Tonight with Boy Abunda.”
During the said interview, Abad admitted that Cruz was her first boyfriend and first love saying that it was the actor’s personality that got her attention.
“Nagustuhan ko ‘yung personality niya and he was my first boyfriend. First love,” she said.
Their relationship developed when they worked together in the series “Tabing Ilog”.
She recalled that Cruz used to have no car and she would be the one who would drive him to the set of “Tabing Ilog” even if she lives in a distant province.

“Simple lang yung buhay ni John Lloyd before. Wala silang sasakyan. I live in Cavite. Ihahatid ko siya, from Laguna, ihahatid ko siyang Pasig saka ako uuwi ng Cavite. Very sugar mommy ang peg,” she said.
Abad also said that she already had a feeling that Cruz would be a great actor even during his humble beginnings in the entertainment industry.

“Yes. Sa aming lahat sa Tabing Ilog, siya yung nakitaan ko talaga ng malalim kapag umarte. Yung natural. May nakukuha ako sa kanya na emosyon na totoo. So nakita ko na sisikat ‘to, iiwan ako nito, magla-love team ‘to ng iba,” she said.
Abad thought that she was right back then because Cruz did have another on-screen partner and got paired with Bea Alonzo.

Abad, who is now living in Cebu City with her husband Paul Jake Castillo, said that she has not met Cruz yet, who is also reportedly staying in Cebu with his partner Ellen Adarna.
When asked about Cruz and Adarna not asking her to be a godmother of their children, Abad said: “John Lloyd, Ellen… bakit? Hahahaha! Paul Jake is friends with Ellen. Siguro dahil alam nilang kuripot ako, na wala akong mabibigay sa anak nila.”
