Gretchen Barretto says she will “never” make amends with sister Marjorie

Gretchen Barretto might have buried the hatchet with her sister Claudine Barretto but she made it clear that she is not willing to do the same with her other sibling Marjorie Barretto.

It can be recalled that Gretchen posted an Instagram Live video with Claudine wherein they recalled their conflicts in the past and how they were able to move on from it.

At one point, they also talked about Marjorie and how there are still problems within their family because of her.

In another interview with DZMM on Saturday night, Gretchen sternly said that she has no plans on reconciling with Marjorie.

“May kasabihan na ‘never say never’ pero allow me and indulge me. Gusto kong sabihin with regards to Marjorie: ‘never,'” she said.

According to a previous PEP.ph report, the feud between Marjorie and Gretchen reportedly started in 2004 because “ABC-5-which was then owned by Gretchen’s partner Tonyboy Cojuangco-hired Willie Revillame to host the show Puso o Pera?. It was said that Dennis, Willie’s former co-host in Masayang Tanghali Bayan (MTB) on ABS-CBN and husband of Marjorie, had a heated conversation with Gretchen. Dennis questioned Gretchen why the station hired Willie, whom he blamed for the cancellation of MTB.”

Since then, more family problems came their way that further affected their relationship as sisters.

Gretchen went on to say in the said interview that she is not mentally and emotionally ready to fix things with Marjorie, who she described as a “toxic” person in her life.

“I value my life, my mental health, my peace and my finances. I am not ready and I don’t think I will ever be for Marjorie. She has become so toxic in my life. I would not stop loving her but I also love myself, I also love my family,” she said.

Gretchen added that Marjorie and her other siblings, excluding Claudine, have been making her feel bad for her lavish lifestyle.

“I cannot be crucified for the life that I live and the things that I have. Bakit ako sasama sa mga tao na they feel like they need to own what I own? she said.

“For the past so many years I have found refuge, comfort, and a lot of love –I feel so great with the people I’m with and they’re not blood related at all. They don’t need my money, anything else from me, except me. Just me,” she added.

She explained that Claudine is her only sister who does not guilt-trip her the kind of life she has.

Gretchen also opened up about her parents and their estranged relationship.

“They have kept quiet and As a sign of respect, I would like to give them peace and I want peace as well,” she said.
