Catriona Gray confirms split with Clint Bondad

Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray has set the record straight once and for all regarding the status of her relationship with Clint Bondad.

During her guesting on Boy Abunda’s late night talk show “Tonight with Boy Abunda”, Gray admitted that she and Bondad have called it quits after more than six years of being together.

When asked about the reason behind the breakup, Gray said that her relationship with Bondad have been in the rocks even before she won the Miss Universe title.

The fourth Filipina Miss Universe added that it was tough for her to go into the competition with an emotional burden caused by her relationship, but she said that she only wanted to focus on the competition and represent the Philippines well.

“It was really tough going through the competition with that happening at the same time but I had to keep reminding myself that this was a once in the lifetime opportunity,” Gray said.

Gray no longer emphasized on the reason behind their split explaining that she would like to keep it private. However, she did mention that they outgrew each other.

“When you’re together for so long and you start off from a very young age, you grow. Whether that be in your personal or in your career –sometimes you just outgrow each other,” she said.

Gray added that if they are truly meant for each other, they can give their relationship a second shot in the future. But she clarified that she is more focused on her duties as Miss Universe.

Much to the dismay of her fans, Gray said that she is not friends with her ex-boyfriend, and that they are not even on speaking terms.

The Filipino-Australian beauty queen also added that it would take some time for her to commit in another relationship because she wants to establish her own identity first.

“I’ve never really had the chance –because being in a 6-year relationship from the age of 18, I’ve never been a young adult, a growing young Christian in that season of single-ness.

“I think it’s really important as an individual because you need to know what you want, who you are.”

“Being a Miss Universe for a year is an amazing experience and I just want to be able to grow in that season as Miss Universe,” she said.

For his part, Bondad said on Instagram that he only wishes Gray “the very best”.

“Man, and here I am working so hard on my bad boy image… I stand by all I have ever said about you,” Bondad said.

“You are still the most beautiful woman that I have ever met. I wish you the very best on your path, wherever it will carry you…Truly,” he added.

He has also since unfollowed Gray on the said social media site.

Before they broke up, Gray and Bondad were in a six-year relationship which started when they met in an elevator in Baguio City.
