Pinay actress receives Hong Kong Film Awards nods for OFW role

A Filipina actress brought pride to the country after receiving nominations for a major awards at the prestigious Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA).

Actress Crisel Consunji received nominations for the Best Actress and Best New Performer categories for portraying an overseas Filipino worker in the movie “Still Human”.

In the said movie, Consunji played a photographer who decided to let go of her passion to go to Hong Kong and make a living by work as a domestic helper there.

In the said foreign land, she was employed by a paralyzed divorcee Cheong-wing (played Anthony Wong) to be his caregiver.

They eventually live under the same roof through different seasons, and learn more about each other and about themselves.

In an interview with Hong Kong newspaper Ming Pao, the Filipino actress expressed her gratitude for getting nominated. She also felt honored to represent Filipino domestic workers in the said film.

“I’m so happy to be one of the nominees, I’m grateful for everyone who worked on ‘Still Human,’ especially the director Chan Siu-kuen for making this film that focuses on the problems that Filipino domestic helpers in Hong Kong face,” she said.
