Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray spent some time with her countrymen in the Big Apple when she had a meet-and-greet facilitated by the Philippine Consulate in New York.
Gray thanked the Filipino-American community who took the time to see her at the Philippine Center in New York City.
The Filipino-Australian beauty queen looked regal during the meet and greet wearing her custom-made ensemble by Orias Classic. Her outfit was a fully-embroidered, modern take on the traditional Barong.
“It is such a pleasure to see you all here. Thank you all for so much coming out and taking time out of your day,” Gray said.
“As I said earlier in the room next door, it makes me feel like I’ve taken a little bit of a trip home to the Philippines. Seeing all of your faces so many kababayans dito— Thank you so much po for being here,” she added.
Meeting her Filipino fans in New York made Gray proud of winning the country’s fourth Miss Universe crown.
“It brings me so much pride to be able to bring pride to my country of the Philippines,” Gray said.
“Being Miss Universe, I really reflect on all of the people, all of the Filipino people, who have carried me along for support, always being there through every trial and journey ever since a couple of years now,” she added.
Gray is expected to return to the Philippines on February 21 and a grand homecoming celebration is currently being prepared for her.
