Karen Gallman raised the Philippine flag high and brought pride to the country by winning the Miss Intercontinental 2018 title on January 26 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Throughout the pageant’s 47-year history, this is the first time the Philippines won the crown.
Last year’s winner Veronica Salas Vallejo of Mexico crowned Gallman at the end of the event after the latter bested out 84 other candidates from different countries of the world.
Aside from taking home the crown, Gallman was also one of the Continental Queens and was named Miss Asia and Oceania. She also received the Fiber Health Body Beautiful Award and the H&H Stand Out Beauty Award during the preliminary events
During the final question and answer round, Gallman was asked to give her personal definition of success, to which she answered: “For me, success is not just about winning in life, but setting goals, smaller goals, and achieving your dreams and working hard for everything you want and always looking up to God and being thankful for everything. For me, that is success.”
Other winners of the pageant include Costa Rica’s Adriana Moya, Slovak Republic’s Laura Longauerová, Colombia’s Hillary Hollmann Del Prado, Vietnam’ Ngân Anh Lê Âu, and Ethiopia’s Bella Lire Lapso, who all finished as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th runners-up, respectively.
Meanwhile, Myanmar’s Nang Mway Phoung Loong and Indonesia’s Aluna Rifani were given sponsor awards, while Argentina’s Celina Villalobos Fuchs and Panama’s Paola Cobas Lukowsky were awarded Miss Photogenic and Miss Congeniality, respectively.
