International supermodel and entrepreneur Tyra Banks mde it clear in the past that she is “obsessed” with Catriona Gray’s signature “Lava Walk”.
But it seems like her obsession with Gray’s runway skills doesn’t stop there because she even went to the extent of ordering pairs of custom-made shoes from the Filipino-Australian beauty queen’s shoe designer Jojo Bragais.
Bragais is known for his eponymous shoe brand which usually provide footwears for beauty pageants in the Philippines. He was also the one who created Gray’s shoes during the national costume and evening gown competitions of the Miss Universe 2018 pageant.
Now, Bragais revealed that his work has reached Hollywood celebrities, among of which is Banks who is known for creating and hosting “America’s Next Top Model”.
“‘Di ba si Tyra Banks, she commended ‘yung ‘Lava Walk’ ni Cat? Sobrang funny because the stylist of Tyra Banks called me up. ‘Hey, puwede ka bang gumawa ng shoes for Tyra Banks?” Bragais said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.
He added that the world-renowned model ordered a pair of thigh-high boots and a pair of mid-calf boots, which are both custom-made. Banks is expected to wear the said shoes for upcoming events.
It can be recalled that Banks commended Gray’s performance during the Miss Universe 2018 preliminary competition and even described it as “Pinoy power to the max”.
She also congratulated Gray after the latter won the title of Miss Universe 2018 and tagged her walk and confidence as “next level fierce”.
A month after the pageant, she said that she still can’t stop thinking about Gray’s walk.
Aside from Banks, Bragais shared that he also created shoes for other international stars, including Mel B or more popularly known as “Scary Spice” from the English girlgroup Spice Girls.
“‘Yung laging nagsusuot ng shoes ko, si Mel B, ‘yung sa Spice Girls. Siya rin ang nag-recommend na gawin ko ‘yung shoes ng concert nila,” Bragais said.
He also said that it was through Mel B that Banks found out about his shoes.
Singers Bebe Rexha and Dua Lipa are also some of his international clients.
“Ang dream ko sa Bragais is to be a brand na Filipinos can be proud of,” he said.
“‘Pag tama ‘yung motivation mo, success will follow, money will follow. Kailangan mo lang simulan nang tama, maging mabuting tao ka, you help out the best possible way na puwede mong magawa. I believe in karma. Whatever you give will come back,” he added.
