WATCH: Elsa Droga draws laughs for impersonating Catriona Gray

Comedian and former “It’s Showtime” Miss Q & A 2018 contestant Elsa Droga caught the attention of netizens when he funnily channeled his inner Catriona Gray during the annual Miss Gay Quiapo pageant.

Elsa Droga paid tribute to the fourth Filipina Miss Universe titleholder by copying her outfits, hairstyles, and even her signature walk and poses.

A video of the pageant’s national costume competition went viral because of Elsa Droga’s performance which drew a lot of laughter from netizens.

Elsa Droga, who went by the stage name “Catrionanget” during the pageant, wore an imitation of Gray’s “LuzViMinda” national costume during the Miss Universe pageant. Instead of Gray, large Parol-inspired backpiece, he used a large umbrella carried by dozens of his friends.

He even made a comedic reference to Gray’s final answer during his introduction by saying, “I believe that people of Tondo, Manila are very poor and sad…”

According to a report by PEP.ph, Elsa Droga also wore a pink swimsuit during the pageant’s swimsuit competition, just like Gray.

He also wore a copy of Gray’s now-iconic lava-inspired Mak Tumang gown and had his own version of the Filipina-Australian beauty queen’s “lava walk”.

Elsa Droga was hailed as the pageant’s Darling of the Crowd, but she unfortunately did not share the same fate as Gray after she failed to enter the Top 5.

The same source quoted talent manager and agent Shobi Dionela who said that the pageant had an unfortunate yet amusing mishap.

Dionela said that the pageant started around 10:00 PM and it lasted for 8 hours.

Dionela said that the pageant ended at around 6:00 AM the following day because there was a mistake during the announcement of the Top 10 candidates. The talent manager added that all candidates were asked to return on stage and they had to redo the announcement of the Top 10 all over again.
