During Gray’s appearance on the said show, the Filipino-Australian opened up about her experiences in pageantry and her chosen advocacy.
“I really believe that education is transformative. It’s something that you can give to your child or to a person that can never be taken away from them, which is why I am so passionate about it,” Gray described her advocacy.
“I work with an organization called Young Focus Philippines, and they give quality access to education. These kids, without NGOs (non-government organizations) like that, might not ever experience going to school or experience developing their love for learning. At the end of the day, that’s what can really pull up a family out of poverty,” she added.
Gray’s eloquence and passion impressed Seacrest who said, “Wow! I’m thinking, your parents must be remarkable.”
After the show, Seacrest posted a photo on his Twitter account to congratulate Gray and the Philippines for yet another Miss Universe win.
“A lot of Filipino Pride in the audience today for Miss Universe Catriona Gray!” he captioned the photo.
He even added a congratulatory message in Filipino which reads: “Maligayang bati sa inyong pagkapanalo!”
