More than 1000 movies filmed in the UAE in 2018, here are some of them

From its impressive skyline to its vast deserts, the UAE has been featured in many films as the setting of different incredible stories.

In 2018 alone, Time Out Dubai reported that over a thousand film productions were shot in different locations in the UAE.

One of the most well-known movies to be filmed in the UAE would have to be the Hollywood film “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” starring Tom Cruise.

For this film, Cruise performed a halo jump on camera, the first actor to do it, in Abu Dhabi. The halo jump is actually a military tactic done by soldiers trying to enter another country undetected.

Performing the stunt is not an easy feat. Cruise had to inhale pure oxygen for 20 minutes to avoid hypoxia or oxygen deficiency. Once the cameras started rolling, he had to jump off a plane. He had filmed the dangerous stunt in March in the UAE Capital.

Another Hollywood film that was shot in the UAE was “6 Underground” which stars actor Ryan Reynolds.

Reynolds went to Abu Dhabi last November to shoot the said film which is said to be Netflix’s most expensive production.

Ever since they arrived, previous reports stated that the production team is expected to stay in the country for six months.

One of the scenes to be shot in Abu Dhabi features a robot exploding over a sand dune, which UAE is known for.

Other movies shot in the UAE this year include Bollywood films “Zero”, “Saaho”, and “Race 3”, as well as Chinese films “Pacman”, “Multiple”, “Love in Dubai”, and “Axe Man”.

The UAE is no longer a stranger to the big screen some more iconic films set in the UAE which have been released in previous years include, “Star Trek Beyond”, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, “Fast and Furious 7”, “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol”, and “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”.
