Cristina Romualdez on blind item about her: “That is a lie, its aim is to destroy me”

Former actress turned politician Cristina Romualdez took to social media to slam a controversial blind item she claimed was about her.

The said blind item said that a former actress who now holds a political position in the south is having an affair after separating with her husband who is also a politician.

“Byuti at seksing aktres na mataas na pulitiko sa South, may kabit, hiwalay na sa mister na politician,” the blind item reads.

Romualdez, who is known for starring in films like films such as “Bad Boy 1”, “Bad Boy 2”, “Bikining Itim”, “Nimfa”, “Kailangan Kita”, and “Sana Kahit Minsan”, currently serves as the mayor of Tacloban City and is married to the former mayor of the same city Alfred Romualdez.

The former actress said that the blind item aimed to “besmirch [her] reputation as a wife, mother, and ultimately as a woman”.

A fuming Romualdez shared a Facebook post to address the blind item which reads: “There is a deliberate concerted effort to besmirch my reputation as a wife mother and ultimately as a woman. It is sad that some are willing to jeopardize me to pursue their own agenda. Some will do everything to destroy me and my family with their libelous reporting. I decided to post this because that blind item that was obviously referring to me was aimed to strip me off my dignity as a mother wife and a woman. That is a lie. Its aim is to destroy me.”

She also posted a photo of the blind item which she captioned: “Here is the blind item I’m talking about in my statement that is aimed to strip me of my dignity as a woman and destroy me. That is a lie. Its aim is to destroy me. Also, I grew up in a home where my mother was always faithful to my father being married for 50 years. She was my example of being a faithful wife. With our family intact. I’m a Christian and malaki ang takot ko sa diyos. Also, I took my marriage vows very seriously.”
