Miss Paraguay faints during Miss Grand International 2018

Paraguay’s bet at the Miss Grand International pageant Clara Sosa was not able to handle her emotion after she was hailed as the winner of the said beauty pageant last Thursday, October 25.

What was supposed to be a memorable moment for Sosa caused a shock among other contestants and audience members after she immediately collapsed onstage when she was about to receive her crown.

Minutes before the winner was announced, Sosa was asked for a short message and the beauty queen from Paraguay said that she was “about to have a heart attack”.

That was why host Xian Lim, as well as some of the other contestant, immediately rushed to her when she fell onstage after it was announced that she was the winner.

A few minutes later, Sosa was able to recompose herself and she was given the sash, crown, and trophy.

Sosa bested out 74 other contestants from all over the world and became the first candidate from Paraguay to snatch the title.

Other winners include India’s Meenakshi Kumar, Indonesia’s Nadia Purwoko, Puerto Rico’s Nicole Colón, and Japan’s Haruka Oda, who were declared first, second, third, and fourth runners-up, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Philippines’ representative Eva Psychee Patalinjug, who slipped during the preliminary competition, broke the country’s qualifying streak that it has been doing since 2015 after she failed to enter the pageant’s Top 20.

Patalinjug took to Instagram to post a video with a heartfelt message after the pageant.

“Crowns and titles are not a measurement of one’s capability to do great things. I have served my purpose and that purpose is to show courage, determination, beauty, and substance as a Filipina.

“To be an inspiration to all people from all walks of life. To never give up in life everytime you fall. I cried not because I felt bad but because I can really feel the love and support from the people all over the world, especially my loving country,” Patalinjug said.
