Lea Salonga wows ‘The Greatest Showman’ breakout star

Filipina broadway superstar Lea Salonga made American stage and film actress Keala Settle hold her breath in awe after watching her perform the hit song from the 1998 Disney film, “Mulan”.

On her Instagram account, Settle uploaded a video of an impromptu performance of Salonga at a Hollywood piano bar, Tramp Stamp Granny’s.

Salonga is seen belting the song “Reflection”, which she recorded for the movie Mulan.

“Lea Salonga giving me Mulan. I bawled my [explicit] off. She will always be incredible,” Settle wrote on Instagram.

After witnessing an up-close performance of Salonga, Settle shared another Instagram post dedicated to the Tony Award-winning Broadway star.

“I can’t stress enough how much I love her. Her voice is clear as crystal. She is salt of the earth. I am obsessed with her. Lea Salonga, you are my idol,” Settle said.

Salonga is currently in the United Stated for yet another theater project. She is playing the part of Grace Farrell in the Hollywood Bowl production of “Annie”, the same play wherein she portrayed the titular character when she was a child.

Just like Salonga, Settle has took part on several stage productions but she rose to mainstream prominence after appearing on the big-screen musical “The Greatest Showman”, wherein she played the bearded lady named Lettie Lutz. She is also the powerful voice behind the Oscar-nominated song “This is Me” which became an international self-empowerment anthem.
