American pop star Demi Lovato was rushed to the hospital after an apparent heroin overdose.
CNN reported that the 25-year-old singer was found unconscious in her home in Hollywood Hills around noon last Tuesday, July 24.
“Demi is awake and with her family, who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support,” Lovato’s representative was quoted as saying in the CNN report.
The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that it transported a 25-year-old woman to a hospital after receiving an emergency call.
Before her reported drug overdose, Lovato was seen celebrating a birthday party of her friend in West Hollywood.
A former child star who gained prominence after appearing on several Disney films and TV shows, Lovato has previously opened up that she suffered from depression and eating disorders.
She also admitted her battle with cocaine and Oxycontin addictions in the past but has been clean for 6 years after spending some time in rehab. Lovato, however, recently confessed that she relapsed.
According to latest updates on the story, Lovato is already ‘awake and responsive’ in the hospital.
Other Hollywood celebrities, including Ellen DeGeneres, Kehlani, Gregg Sulkin, Kevin Hart, Camila Cabello, Lady Gaga, and Ariana Grande, have sent their messages of love and support to Lovato on social media.
