Nearly 14 years after the controversial Hacienda Luisita massacre, Queen of All Media Kris Aquino finally broke her silence regarding the issue involving the plantation that was owned by the Cojuancos, her maternal family side.
In the comments section of one of Aquino’s Instagram posts, a certain netizen asked the 47-year-old TV personality about her opinions on the Hacienda Luisita incident which made headlines more than a decade ago.
On November 16, 2004, a picket gathered outside Hacienda Luisita and launched a massive strike.
Seven people and 120 more sustained injuries when a violent dispersal broke out in the plantation.
When a netizen asked Aquino what can she say about the incident, she answered, “It was bought by my grandparents with their money, but unfortunately mismanaged by my mother’s brother.”
Aquino then added that she decided not to speak about it before out of respect to Maria Paz Cojuangco-Teopaco or her Auntie Passy.
