The trailer of the film adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s bestselling book “Crazy Rich Asians” have been released and it absolutely looks lavish, as expected.

The upcoming movie that has created a buzz all over the world will also feature two Filipino talents – Kris Aquino and Nick Santos.

Even though Aquino was not seen in the trailer, she said in a previous interview with PEP that she has a “bongga” role in the movie.

“I play royalty, so bongga na yun!” she said.

Aquino then said in a separate interview with ABS-CBN that she will be playing a princess and that she will have two scenes.

“I have no idea [when the Asian premiere is]. Ayaw ko namang magpaka-feeling. Dadalawa lang naman ang eksena ko, pero prinsesa ako,” she said.

In an interview with ANC, Kwan, the author of the book, revealed that he wanted a Filipino for the movie and thought that the Queen of All Media would be fitting for the role.

“I wanted a Filipino in this movie. She’s Kris Aquino. She has a dynamic personality and we thought she would be perfect for this role,” Kwan said.

Aside from Aquino, Nico Santos, a Filipino-American comedian, who is already making a name for himself in Hollywood for starring in the comedy series “Superstore”, will also appear in the film.

Santos will be playing Oliver T’sien, the second cousin of Nick Young, the male lead of the movie.

“Crazy Rich Asians” tells the tale of a young woman who accompanies her boyfriend to Singapore for his best friend’s wedding, only to find out that her lover is filthy rich and is one of the most eligible bachelors in the country.

Constance Wu, Henry Golding, and Michelle Yeoh will lead the all-star ensemble.

According to the producer of the movie, Warner Bros. Pictures, Crazy Rich Asians will be shown in Philippine cinemas on August 22, 2018.
