Bb. Pilipinas 20 Catriona Elisa Gray was hailed as the new Miss Universe Philippines 2018, during Binibining Pilipinas 2018 coronation night at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday.

Gray, who was a crowd favorite ahead of the competition, made history as the first Binibini to bag 3 out of 3 Major awards, including Best in Swimsuit, Best in Evening Gown and the Pitoy Moreno Best in National Costume Award. She was also awarded 2 out of 6 sponsors/special awards, namely Jag Denim Queen award and Miss Ever Bilena.

This is the second prestigious beauty title crown that she won in the Philippines. She first won Miss World Philippines 2016 and placed as a Top 5 Finalist in Miss World 2016, but she decided to join this year’s roster of Binibining Pilipinas candidates, and brought home the crown again.

Gray slayed the question during the Bb. Pilipinas pageant: “After the devastating war, Marawi is now on its way to recovery. What is your message to the young women of Marawi?”

Gray answered: “My message to the women were to be strong as women as the head of the household and we have amazing influence not only in our family as mothers, sisters and friends but also in our community. If we could get the women to stay strong and be that image of strength for the children and people around them, then once the rebuilding was complete, the morale of the community will stay strong and high.”
