Filipino singer KZ Tandingan is an instant celebrity in China after becoming a regular contender in the hit singing competition show titled “Singer 2018”.
The competition, the most viewed TV show in China today, is gaining more than 200 million viewers.
When Tandingan went shopping at Changsha Mall, many shoppers noticed her and asked to take a selfie and autograph from her.
“KZ went shopping in Changsha Mall and it became an instant photo op with her Chinese fans. Kaka-proud when non-Filipinos actually recognize her now,” Erickson Raymundo, Tandingan’s manager, said on Instagram.
In a previous interview, Tandingan said that her exposure in China could help boost her career.
I am proud to share with you KZ’s version of “Say Something” for Singer 2018 episode 7. KZ prepared a different song for this episode and the arrangement for that song came from the Philippines. Hunan Broadcasting System (HBS) decided last minute to change the song because they felt the song is not well known in China and asked KZ to perform “Say Something” instead since this is one of the songs she performed during audition that really left a mark on them. We had to fly Macoy (her guitarist) last minute for this and she only got to rehearse this song on the day of the recording but still delivered an awesome performance.
On the most recent episode, Tandingan performed the Grammy-award winning song “Say Something” by American music duo A Great Big World and pop singer Christina Aguilera.
On Twitter, the international duo praised Tandingan’s performance.
Her stellar performance earned her the fourth spot in the latest episode of the Chinese singing competition.
Tandingan is competing against other international singers, including British pop superstar Jessie J.
