Regine Velasquez on losing stardom

During the press conference for her upcoming pre-Valentine concert titled #paMORE, Regine Velasquez answered a question of a showbiz reporter regarding her celebrity status, saying that she’s aware that she’s no longer as famous as before.

The 47-year-old singer connected her celebrity status with the movie The Greatest Showman which she has recently watched.

In the said movie, the main character who was played by Hugh Jackman experienced depression after the downfall of his circus career.

The song bird told PEP, “Personally, sa akin, nandito na ako sa time ng career ko na ganun na.”

She added, “Ako kasi, praktikal ako na tao. I am very aware of where I am now in this industry.

However, Velasquez, who is now considered as an icon in the world of Philippine music, said that she is thankful for the blessings and projects that she still receives.

“I just feel very blessed that I am still given the opportunity to be able to perform, or nasa TV pa rin naman ako.

Then, you just get your heart broken,” the singer openly said.

Velasquez also said that she no longer thinks about her fame. Rather, she is more focused on working.

“Ang alam ko lang, blessed ako ni Lord, kasi binibigyan pa ako ng work at ng opportunity to work with other artists,” she said.

The singer also stressed that she now has different priorities in life.

“Naa-appreciate ko yung time na mayroon ako with my son and mayroon ako with my husband.
