Alice Dixson shares message of support for Mariel de Leon

Former beauty queen Alice Dixson extended her support for Mariel de Leon, the Philippines’ representative to the 57th Miss International beauty pageant this year.

“Yes, I’m looking forward to a win this year, and I’m hoping that Boyet’s (Christopher de Leon) daughter has a really good chance. I’m cheering for her,” Pep.ph quoted Dixson as saying.

She also shared a small piece of advice on nervousness and how it can affect a contestant’s performance.

“I’m hoping and I’m praying that she does her best, kasi ‘pag inabot ka ng nerbiyos, bababa yung score mo. But if she stays confident and keeps her head up and does her best, I’m sure she’ll come home with the crown,” Pep.ph quoted Dixson as saying.

Dixson was one of the top 15 semifinalists of Miss International in 1986.

De Leon is now in Japan for the pageant to try to continue the Philippines’ victory. Last year, Kylie Verzosa won, making her the sixth Filipina to win the pageant.

This year’s winner will be crowned on Nov. 14 at the Tokyo Dome City Hall.
