LOOK: Wyn Marquez stands out in Pintados-inspired national costume

The country’s bet in the 2017 Reina Hispanoamericana pageant continues to dominate in pre-pageant activities as Wynwyn Marquez struts in a Pintados-inspired warrior dress for the National Costume competition Thursday, October 26.

Marquez donned an intricate beaded gold dress complete with a headpiece and a sword, earning her a spot in the top 3 for the national costume presentation that night, alongside Miss Panama and Venezuela.

Fashion designer Edwin Uy, known for his pageant-winning national costumes, took inspiration from Pintados, the term used by Spanish colonists to refer to indigenous people they encountered in Cebu.

“Congratulations to us Wynwyn for making it to the top 3 of the best national costume of Reina Hispanoamericana,” Uy posted on social media.

Miss Panama Carolina Castillo was later awarded Best in National Costume.

Marquez, daughter of Joey Marquez and Alma Moreno, recently made headlines for her attention-grabbing performance in photo shoots and other activities in Bolivia.

She and other pageant hopefuls are vying to be crowned Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 on November 4.
