Filipino talents most anticipated acts in Asia’s Got Talent Season 2

The biggest talent competition in Asia is back for its second season. Judges and fans alike are eagerly anticipating the return of world-class Filipino talents to center stage.

Pinoys acts dominated the first season of Asia’s Got Talent (AGT) in 2015, with shadow play performers El Gamma Penumbra bagging the grand prize as well as a third place finish for opera singer Gerphil Flores.

Grammy-winning singer and producer David Foster is back this year as a judge and acknowledged his admiration for Filipino talents.

“There are a lot of great singers and performers out there in the Philippines. There’s something in the water in the Philippines and I don’t know what it is,” Foster said during the media launch of AGT Season 2 on July 27 at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands.

Foster is joined by Indonesian singer Anggun and a new judge, Korean pop superstar Jay Park.

“A lot of Filipinos are amazing at singing and dancing. Even in the United States, a lot of choreographers and dancers are Filipinos,” Park said in an interview.

Returning judge Anggun explained what kind of talent the judges are looking for, the “it” factor they saw in Season 1 winner El Gamma Penumbra.

“This talent comes from Asia and this needs to be seen worldwide. [El Gamma’s] kind of act is truly universal. It’s the kind of act where you don’t need a language. They tell a story in such a beautiful and emotional way and the skill is amazing. So for me, that kind of act was perfect,” she said.

The media launch also introduced this new season’s hosts, TV personalities Alan Wong and Justin Bratton, replacing Mark Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez.

The AGT grand winner will again bag a $100,000 cash prize from presenting sponsor Traveloka.
