All-Filipino choral group wins at Choirfest

A 19-member strong all-Filipino team of Dubai Duty Free (DDF) employees has won the Best Corporate Choir award at the recently concluded ChoirFest Middle East 2017, their second since 2015.

Colm McLoughlin, DDF executive cice chairman and CEO was all praise for the choir, saying he was “absolutely thrilled” with the team, Dubai Duty Free (DDF) Nightingales, for winning the “Best Corporate Choir” for the second time at the singing competition.

“The choir worked extremely hard in the weeks leading up to the competition. Well done and congratulations to all!” he said.
The Nightingales is made up of 19 DDF staff members, representing a number of different departments, among them Marketing, Finance, IT, HR, CSR, Display and the Operations department.
Now in its fifth year, the annual choral festival organized by The Fridge, showcases top choirs from across the Middle East, including those from the UAE, Jordan, Morocco and Afghanistan.

The competition was judged by some members of Europe’s premier gospel singing group, the London Community Gospel Choir, which has graced many of the UK’s greatest stages such as Wembley Stadium, the Royal Albert Hall and are regulars at Glastonbury Festival. The Gospel Choir also performed a soul-stirring gospel music at the gala evening and also held various workshops for the participants during the week-long choir festival.
The “Dubai Duty Free Nightingales”, have participated in ChoirFest Middle East for the past four years and were awarded “Best Corporate Choir” in 2015 and “Most Dynamic Choir” in 2016.
The event was held on 3rd March at The Els Club.
