The top-grossing 2016 MMFF movies

The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Executive Committee has announced ‘Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank 2,’ ‘Vince & Kath & James,’ Die Beautiful,’ and ‘Seklusyon’ are the highest-grossing films so far in this year’s festival, with a total revenue of P50 million.

The other MMFF entries ‘Oro’, ‘Saving Sally’, ‘Sunday Beauty Queen’, and ‘Kabisera’ reportedly had a total of P3 million in ticket sales.

In a Facebook post, the MMFF expressed their gratitude for reaching the target goal on opening day. They assured the public they will “continue promoting and supporting the eight MMFF entries as they all deserve to be watched and patronized by the Filipino audience.”

This year’s line-up is different from the previous ones as the committee chose indie films rather than the usual “masa” films. The numbers look promising as of now and people await to see the results during the awards night on December 29.
