Science has finally proven you can judge a person by looking at his or her shoes.
Researchers at the University of Kansas found that people were able to correctly guess a stranger’s age, sex, income, political affiliation, and other characteristics simply by looking at their footwear.
Some of the correlations seem obvious with rich people’s ability to buy expensive shoes, extroverts favor flashy shoes, and conscientious people like shoes that are not new but appeared spotless.
Gweys Soriano, a Dubai-based bespoke shoe designer told The FilipinoTimes shoes are a true reflection of one’s personality.
“I agree with that. I am a shoe designer. I hate to say it but I do judge people by their shoes, same way as women judge men by their shoes and cars,” she explained.
Soriano owns the fashion line, Eva Morin.
Nere Ku, a Philippine-based shoe couturier, who has created shoes for Michael Cinco, Ezra Santos and Furne One’s runway said that shoes plays a major role on how people perceive themselves.
“Aside from working side by side with the iconic fashion designers, I have glammed up the feet of the beauty queens who have given pride and honor to our country,” Ku said.
“It seems too good to be true, but yes, a well-designed shoe, or a well-made orthotic insole will help improve your posture same way as it improve the way our beauty queens wowed the world with how they walked on stage,” he added.
Shoba Bajaj, Nine West marketing manager couldn’t agree more.
“We are in the shoe-making business; part of our job is to launch stylish and innovative collection that would cater to the large shoe fanatic consumers. Aside from it being designed for comfort and style, we make sure it can be affordable to the masses,” Bajaj, told The Filipino Times.
“We have an ongoing mid-season sale offering up to 50 percent offer on select styles. It will run until November 23,” she added.
Since 1978, more than 280 million pairs of Nine West shoes have been sold and more than 100 million women have walked in their shoes. It was founded by Vince Camuto, who also has his own label. They are known for channeling the love, lust and shoe envy women feel, into trend inspired styles, they have created a means of satisfying their passion for what is new, hot and next in fashion.
