Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach advised Filipinos to wait for the official announcement of the organization before speculating on the alleged cancellation of Miss Universe Pageant in the Philippines.
“I understand how people could easily jump to that conclusion because everybody’s waiting for an announcement,” said Wurtzbach, adding, “But you know, we also talk about other things.”
Pia has been very vocal in her wish to crown her successor in front of a local crowd. The beauty queen described her efforts to make this happen in another statement. “We’re working very hard in making [Miss Universe in the Philippines] happen. Please bear with us. Very soon, I promise, we will have an announcement.”
Earlier in July, Department of Tourism chief Wanda Teo confirmed that the next Miss Universe Pageant will be held in Manila, even expressing plans to include other cities such as Davao for auxiliary events.
Reports about the supposed cancellation, however, found headwinds in Kat De Castro’s controversial post, DOT undersecretary, on Facebook.
