BB Gandanghari has formally filed a petition to legally change her name and gender at the Superior Court of California on Thursday, August 18.
BB, formerly known as actor Rustom Padilla, posted on Instagram a photo of the document she filed, stating the change of her current legal name of Rustom Cariño Padilla to Binibini Gandanghari, and the change of gender from male to female.
The notice of hearing is scheduled on November 16, 2016 at 8:30 AM.
It was captioned, “CHANGE is coming… Big time!!!”
The actor came out in his late 30s in Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Edition in 2006. As Rustom, he left for America in 2009 and came back in the Philippines as transwoman BB Gandanghari.
“PBB was the perfect venue for me. I really wanted na isahan, ayaw ko na mag-explain each group isa-isa. That was my time na,” BB said in an interview.
