Barbra Streisand says Siri pronounces her name wrong

Apple’s virtual assistant Siri pronounces Barbra Streisand’s surname incorrectly, making the Broadway singer unhappy.

“She pronounces my name wrong,” Babs admitted to music show NPR Weekend Edition on Saturday, August 20, Inquirer quotes. “Streisand with a soft S, like sand on the beach. I’ve been saying this for my whole career.”

Streisand then called Tim Cook, head of Apple, to request changing Siri’s pronunciation of her name, to which Cook “delightfully agreed”. Her surname would be pronounced correctly in the next update of the application on September 30.

Daily Mail reported that Streisand was made known of this error when NPR show host Scott Simon took out his iPhone to ask computer assistant Siri a question about Streisand.

“Siri, who is the only female vocalist who has had hit records for six straight decades?” Simon was quoted asking.

“Barbra Streizzzand,” Siri had replied in front of the 74-year-old multi-awarded singer.
