Sportscaster bags most of Mutya ng Pilipinas special awards

MANILA: Frontrunners snagged the top plums at the 2016 Mutya ng Pilipinas coronation night staged at Resorts World Manila’s Newport Performing Arts Theater.

Manila’s Ganiel Akrisha Krishnan, who bagged the lion’s share of special awards, received the Mutya ng Pilipinas-Asia Pacific International crown at the event held in Pasay City on Saturday night, reported Inquirer.

The Mutya ng Pilipinas-Tourism International title went to Calabarzon’s Justin Mae San Jose, who earlier received the important awards Best in Swimsuit and Best in Evening Gown, the report said.

In various activities leading to the coronation night, Krishnan was proclaimed Darling of the Press, Best in Talent, Mutya ng Sheridan Beach Resort, Mutya ng Rain or Shine, Hannah’s Best in Swimsuit, Mutya ng Hotel 101, Mutya ng Camera Club of the Philippines and Mutya ng Inglot, said the news portal.

San Jose was earlier proclaimed Mutya ng Skyjet Airlines. Krishnan, a sportscaster for ABS-CBN Sports & Action channel, will represent the Philippines in the revival edition of the Miss Asia Pacific International pageant later this year, reported Inquirer.

San Jose will compete in the Miss Tourism International contest in December, the report said.

Michelle Thorlund from the Filipino community in California was reportedly proclaimed Mutya ng Pilipinas-Overseas Communities. Lynette Bradford from the Filipino community in Melbourne finished as first runner up.

Best in Terno winner and Mutya ng Informatics Ashley Nicole Singh from Central Luzon was 2nd runner up.

Actors Richard Gutierrez, Arci Muñoz and Bela Padilla hosted the ceremonies, with 2013 Miss International Bea Rose Santiago, former Mutya Kristine Caballero and Samantha Rodriguez as correspondents, reported Inquirer.
