Dean Devlin acquires rights to Filipino indie ‘Transit’

Filipino-American Hollywood producer Dean Devlin has acquired all worldwide sales, excluding the Philippines, for “Transit,” the country’s official entry to the Oscars Best Foreign Language Film category this year.

Devlin’s company Electric Entertainment will be negotiating the film to prospective buyers at the annual American Film Market (AFM) event scheduled for next month in Santa Monica, California.

Established in 1981, the AFM is an eight-day event with the aim of networking, selling, financing and acquiring films. It is regarded as one of the premier global marketplaces in the film industry.

According to the company website, Electric Entertainment is “a full service film, television, and new media production company and studio”. Its recent projects include the TNT hit TV series “Leverage” starring Timothy Hutton for which it has produced 77 episodes, and “The Wannabe”, an indie feature starring Patricia Arquette, Vince Piazza and Michael Imperioli.

“Transit” was among big winners in this year’s Cinemalaya Film Festival.
