Kuwait police have issued an arrest warrant against an airport officer who allegedly abducted and raped a Filipina domestic worker in the airport.
“The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait, is closely coordinating with Kuwaiti authorities for the speedy arrest of the suspect in the rape case involving a Filipina household service worker in Kuwait,” the DFA said in a statement.
The Attorney- General has ordered the filing of charges to the still unidentified suspect and a review of surveillance cameras to speed up the investigation.
The suspect is said to be a ‘military man’ and he hasn’t shown up at work since the incident took place.
Local media groups said that the woman encountered her abductor when she approached a security officer at the airport’s passport control. The airport official stamped her passport but later on asked her to follow him at the airport’s parking area.
“The Philippine Government will exert all efforts to ensure that justice is served,” DFA added.
The Commission on Human Rights also condemned the act and vowed to cooperate with labor officials to solve the rape case
